BioAzul is an environmental engineering and R&D SME focused on wastewater and sludge treatment as well as reuse and management technologies with a strong focus on R&D projects in order to develop and distribute eco-innovative solutions. BioAzul is developing and commercialising innovative MBR and SBR treatment systems focusing on low-cost and low-energy requirements.
The highly qualified staff of BioAzul has a wide experience in R&D management projects and R&D activities in the fields of renewable energy (specially concerning biomass), solid wastes and wastewater management, as well as environmentally-sound agriculture. The activities of BioAzul are divided in two interconnected business areas: R&D and commercialisation of own products and of 3rd parties’ highly eco-innovative products, and consultancy being catalyst, promoter and facilitator of R&D projects. BioAzul is currently working in the further development of LODOred product line, a biotechnological product to reduce the surplus sludge generated in wastewater treatment plants. In addition, BioAzul is working in cooperation with companies and research centres in the R&D of new wastewater reuse options.
As a technical R&D company for waste water treatment and reuse and developer of suitable and adapted MBR and SBR technology Bioazul will provide the adapted technological water treatment systems (SBRs and MBRs) for the NaWaTech implementation sites. In addition, Bioazul will act as the administrative project coordinator (task 7.2) BioAzul will be responsible for submitting progress, interim and final reports to the coordinator according to the instructions and guidance notes established by the EC. BioAzul will also support the responsible host partner in the overall organisation of consortium meetings (kick-off, mid-term and final meeting) and will support the knowledge manager and WP leaders in the preparation (task 5.1) and organisation of the dissemination programme.
BioAzul has participated in 15 projects within the FP6 being the administrative coordinator of 8 of them.
